In the absence of any government funding the Camp conducts general camps for a wide range of groups, schools, sporting groups, religious groups during the year in order to derive funds to meet the shortfall between the actual cost of school holiday camps and the fee charged per child, ($240). The actual cost of a child’s attendance for a week is closer to $400. Effectively this leaves us with a shortfall of approximately $160,000 each summer season of camps.

The Portsea Camp is one of the oldest children’s charities. Our property also holds vast historical significance dating back to the 1870s with many buildings being heritage listed. Having such old buildings requires continual maintenance and all revenue raised goes towards maintaining the site in its original state and as a safe place for all who visit.

The Camp makes a difference to so many people’s lives throughout the local and wider community. Throughout Victoria and Southern New South Wales communities have been touched by the Portsea Camp. Children have visited, organiser’s and volunteers have attended, local clubs and businesses have assisted in the fundraising. Even today we have visitors who experienced camps as far back as 1950 return to reacquaint with a place they hold dear.

You can choose to donate to a projects which are listed in the next section, or to sponsor a child, or children to attend camp. Alternatively you may wish to offer items which are identified on our wish list.
