Rotary has a long relationship with the Portsea Camp. Many individual clubs contribute through organising and sponsoring children to holiday camps, sponsoring a specific project, or assisting in the up keep of the site. Their involvement allows hundreds of children annually to attend camp.

Perhaps the greatest contribution by Rotary has been the support given to the camp at the critical time of independence from the City of Melbourne, when funds were raised to replace boilers, build the new Medical Centre and replace much decrepit infrastructure. Between 1994 and 2008 over $400,000 was raised.

‘Rotary International is the world's first service club organization. Its more than 1.2 million members volunteer their time and talent to further the Rotary motto, Service Above Self. For more information about Rotary see their website www.Rotary.org

The Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation forms partnerships with a wide range of corporations, trusts, foundations and other organisations to help support welfare and health organisations.’

Their involvement with the Camp has enhanced our ability to deliver our main goal of bringing more children to camp. The Portsea Camp, along with the YWCA and YMCA was the first recipient of funds from the Lord Mayor's Give it a Go campaign. A cheque for $180,000 to be shared equally between the 3 charities was handed over by Lord Mayor John So. The launch of the program saw Bindi Irwin and the Croc Men dishing up the fun to 1,500 school children in Melbourne Town Hall. The Camp is enormously grateful for this support which has been applied to supporting children from disadvantaged Melbourne schools and drought areas of the state to children's charity camps.

Again throughout 2008 - 2009 children from inner city areas will be offered places in our holiday camps through $60,000 worth of funding. We are identifying children through the State School’s Relief Committee who can ably source disadvantaged children in Melbourne’s inner areas.
