The Portsea Camp

Volunteers

Volunteers are the life blood of the Portsea Camp. Without their involvement the camp simply couldn’t run. You will find more information on volunteering opportunities in the ‘How to help‘ section of our website.

Children’s camp volunteers

Annually, an average of 300 people volunteer on our holiday camps. Coming from diverse backgrounds, they participate as room leaders, recreation leaders, junior leaders or medical staff. High numbers enable camp’s to be run with excellent adult / child ratios; typically 1:5.

Not only do volunteers attend camps but many also donate their time as local area contacts. This is a substantial task as it involves identifying local children and families and additional volunteers, raising funds, liaising between families and the camp and organising local camp promotion.

All volunteers are required to have Working with Children Checks.

Directors

The camp’s Directors all volunteer to their positions on the Board, positions that come with responsibility to ensure the camp’s success continues on.
